Yet there is another crime, which, until now has been wrapped in a veil of silence: child rape. And yet, in Syrian government prisons, at regime checkpoints and during raids, the children of opposition figures are abused in total impunity.
The credibility of the United Nations is regularly soiled by sexual abuse carried out by its civilian and military personnel during peacekeeping operations. Despite its stated “zero tolerance” policy towards sexual abuse, the number of victims continues to rise.
